As a social services provider working in the community, you are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the SCRIPT® smoking cessation program.
SCRIPT® has been successfully implemented into a variety of public health systems that serve pregnant women. These systems include prenatal care offices and clinics, WIC, and home visiting programs such as Healthy Start.
Public health providers utilizing SCRIPT® in the past have included prenatal care staff (midwives, physicians, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, and health educators); WIC staff (dietitians and health educators); and home visiting service providers.
In 2010, the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (ACA) expanded Medicaid coverage to include comprehensive smoking cessation for pregnant women as a reimbursable service without cost-sharing, and offers states flexibility on how the services shall be provided.
Health workers often want to support women who choose to quit smoking, but lack the specific training that makes that effort feasible in a busy healthcare setting. SCRIPT® training standardizes the intervention, and makes it time- and cost-effective.
Help your patients and their babies avoid the many health issues caused by exposure to nicotine and smoking.
