What's included with SCRIPT®?

The smoking cessation program, SCRIPT®, consists of a comprehensive training workshop for healthcare providers, clinicians and health educators. This in-depth training ensures participants know how to use SCRIPT® and are comfortable integrating it into routine prenatal care and follow up care protocols.

Four modules are included. Staff responsible for implementing and evaluating the program will need all four modules. Staff who are responsible only for counseling patients may only need modules one and two.

Counseling

An initial counseling intervention held between the pregnant smoker and the healthcare professional.

Counseling for 10-15 minutes utilizes the 5As framework and introduces the pregnant smoker to the patient guide.

The healthcare professional follows a semi-structured dialogue to share proven cessation strategies with the pregnant smoker and to encourage her to identify her own reasons for quitting.
